2 Weeks Back

In the two weeks I've been back, I've:
  • caught the flu, got rid of it, and developed a very annoying cough.
  • done a presentation (seems it's gonna haunt me).
  • had two weeks of classes that were supposed to span three weeks. We decided to double up so we could a week off for studying and so the lecturer can go home to his wife who's recovering.
  • gone to a birthday get-together and had my tush squeezed by a seat-belt thing (that happens when 7 people are squeezed into a car made for 5).
  • gone to a bbq and made a new friend.
  • gone to church.
  • spent WAY too much money, but won't need to spend much again for a little while (Pricesmart can do that).

That about sums it up. This weekend shall be mixed- study and rest and idling.

Here's to a good weekend!

Journey Back

So after how many weeks (of being away from the blog and Bim) I am back.

My journey back to Bim began Jan 12. Started too early. Left for the airport about 7 a.m. Got to the airport quite in-time; I had no lines to join. I went straight to the counter and did my thing. Then I went back outside to the waiting team (dad and cousin) and headed to buy patties to take back with me. Sigh. I called the Tastee place from the day before and PRE-ORDERED two boxes of patties. Got there and it took over half hour to get them! Needless to say I was NOT amused because I made sure to ask about the time they would be ready. And worse, they cost more than Sugar and Spice patties by J$300+, so that added to my frustration.

Anyways, the flight was ontime to Mobay. But new rules. Instead of waiting in the waiting area directly from the aircraft, I had to walk through it (yes, the same place I am gonna be returning to) and go through some metal detectors and put my bags through x-rays again! Got stopped by a cop who asked me where I heading to and why. Procedure I guess...or maybe I looked thuggish. Hmm...

Anyways, I left there and went up stairs and through tunnels and got back to the same place I coulda jolly well stay instead of all that hassle. Anyways, I did hungry by this time so I went straight to Margueritaville and had some rather expensive food. It was quite relaxing as I sat under the light and read a novel and ate at my own leisure. After a while it was getting too noisy and I could barely hear the annoucements and decided to wait outside, but I seem to have had perfect timing (and so did the aircraft for a nice change). I waitied and then boarded. Smooth sailing. Had amply space to put my luggage.

While people were piling into the aircraft, I noticed that outside of there being tons of white, young people, one person had a thing with St. Georges University on it. Hmm... It wasn't until we were airbound that I realised that I would be landing in Grenada before Barbados. I was not amused that the ticket gave no such indications and I had to find this out while airbound.

On top of the re-route (as I call it), the flight was NOT smooth. Now for someone who is developing a fear of flying that is not a very good thing. I prayed much. I tried to read. Apparently they encountered unexpected turbelence...this after the pilot announced that it'd be smooth sailing.

We landed in Grenada fairly smoothly (thank God). People got off, people got on. I ended up switching seats with a girl who wanted to be close to her mom. No horrors. Got to Bim in about half hour. But before we landed I had to inhale a pesticide that apparently is required by Barbados. Went through to customs without much problems (good thing I had my UWI ID), and had to then figure out which of the 3 baggage areas to look for my luggage (minor info it seems that it's not worthy of annoucement). But I got my stuff and then went through to dem people who search through tings. Fortunately he was in a good mood and all he did was run my stuff through an x-ray machine (so much radiation can't be good), chatted with me about how we messing up ourselves in the Caribbean, and then sent me on my way. I waited about 10 min before I was in my landlady's car and heading home.

And now the adventures continue...
